Frequently Imagined Questions

Have you tried out any / many of these resources?
Yes, several, but only a small fraction of what's linked in here.  I'll be writing about my experiences with them in the blog as time goes by.

Why don't you recommend specific products or services over others?
I've enjoyed dozens of self development books and audio programs over 20 years time, and I've learned something from each and every one.  For me, a "recommendation" has to factor in whether or not the cost of a resource is in line with its value.  But for some people, just one new skill or one key insight absorbed at the right time can completely redirect his or her life.  So, who am I to say what any particular resource is worth?  I believe they all have value, and for the right audience, life-changing value.

Who guarantees my satisfaction for what I buy?
Growth Guides sells nothing directly.  The guides themselves (or their companies or distributors) stand by their products and services, and offer whatever guarantees they see fit.

Can I "apply" to be included as a Guide on your site?
Yes, you can use the Contact Us page to tell us about yourself and what products and services you offer.

Is "personal growth" the same thing as "self improvement"?
In my opinion, no.  To me, personal growth is a subset of self improvement, and Growth Guides focuses on that subset.  This is why we don't have specific categories for weight loss or smoking cessation programs, for instance.  These focus on "fixing a problem".  But, under Growth Foundations, you will find powerful techniques, such as hypnosis and visualization, which can be applied to these types of problems, and learning these techniques is certainly a form of personal growth.  I'm probably splitting hairs here, but what the heck, it's my website.  8-)

Why doesn't "Spiritual Growth" include links to religions or religious leaders?
Well, first, I understand that for some people, the subject of spirituality has no meaning whatsoever outside of his or her own religious faith.  Such a person is unlikely to come to a site like Growth Guides for spiritual resources.  Second, providing links to resources that require a foundation in particular religious beliefs serves only those already grounded in those beliefs.  In other words, it's one thing to ask someone to "buy into" a particular set of ideas about finding inner peace, but it's another thing entirely to ask that person to also "buy into" a prerequisite religious viewpoint.  Therefore, the intent of the Spiritual Growth category is to cover resources that broach the "laws of the universe" per se,  without attributing them to any particular G-d, or perhaps to any G-d at all.

Does "Financial Growth" include business topics?
Yes, to the extent that the person is having a growth experience.  I would claim that, separate from the success of the business, becoming an entrepreneur is absolutely a growth experience, personally and financially, especially if you believe (as I do) that both your successes and your failures contribute to your ultimate growth as a person.

Does "Relationship Growth" include sex aids?
I'm not sure how this particular category will evolve, but for now, if it appears to be more about sex than about love, then it's probably not here.

How do you cover the costs of maintaining this site?
For now, Growth Guides is funded only by commissions that come back from the sales of certain products.  I don't know how effective that will be long-term, but it's a start.
